Christ Church news
Sunday 20 July - 30 members of Christ Church joined 300 worshippers from 8 other churches in Brentwood for Pilgrims Praise, a worship and communion service celebrating 40 years' of the work of Pilgrims Hall.
Thursday 17 July - Ladies night held at the Greyhound, Childerditch.
Thursday 17 July - social club trip to Hyde Hall, Rettendon near Chelmsford. A great day out!
Monday 30 June - £849 is sent to the Children's Society from 16 local supporters including 12 members of Christ Church.
Sunday 15 June - Tony Anthony mission event at St Peter's South Weald. Over 300 people attended this event and heard Tony Anthony's amazing story and testimony.
Sunday 15 June - Vicarage Garden Party. Chris and Ellen welcomed us to their home and garden. The garden looked beautiful and there was a wonderful of array of cakes, pastries and fruit. A most enjoyable afternoon.
Saturday 3 May - the Table Top Sale, supported by church members and neighbours, raises £250 for the Christ Church Centre project. Thanks to Tony for all his hard work in organising this event.
Sunday 20 April - the Annual Parochial Church Meeting was held in church following the 10.30am service. Sylvia Skidmore was elected to succeed Brenda as churchwarden. Jan Broderick and Louise Knight were elected to the Church Council for the first time, with Esther Hine, Betty Crozier and Mary-Jane Targett being re-elected.
Tuesday 15 April - the Diocesan Advisory Committee gave their approval of the plans submited for the development of the Christ Church Centre (see http://www.christchurchwarley.org/19.html).
Monday 31st March - 16 members of the congregation attended Week 2 of Spring Harvest at Skegness where the theme was One Hope. We attended activities for children andf young people, workshops, bible readings, concerts and morning and evening worship. We also had some time off relaxing. A great time was had by all.
Thursday 20th March - we celebrated Maundy Thursday with a meeting led by Paul. Whilst nibbling Passover style snacks we heard and discussed passages relating to the Passover, the washing of the disciples feet and the breaking of bread at the Last Supper. We finished by sharing bread and wine. Thanks to Paul for a memorable start to our Easter weekend celebrations.
Sunday 16th March - Jes Salt informs the church that he has been accepted for ordination training. Please pray for Jes as the remaining practical details for his training are resolved.
Sunday 9th March - Sue and Mary-Jane take part in the Brentwood Fun Run raising £200 for the Christ Church Centre Project and BSCWT.
Sunday 2nd March - the gift day for the Christ Church Centre project resulted in gifts and pledges for £150, 000, taking the total raised for the centre in gifts and pledges to £300,000. We thank God for his generous answer to our prayers. Our services on Palm Sunday (16th March) will provide an opportunity for showing our thanks to God.
Sunday 10th February - the gift day for the Christ Church Centre project. Members of the congregation have been making donations and pledges to support this work. These can still be made over the next 2 Sundays ie 17/2 and 24/2.
Saturday 9th February - what a great Chattabox! We had 29 primary school kids (despite it being half-term week) including a number of first-timers and enjoyed 2 hours of non-stop fun. We can still fit more people in so come along on the 8th March.
Saturday 2nd February - church members joined in a prayer day for the Christ Church Centre project between 10.00am and 4.00pm. The church was laid out with prayer stations which each highlighted an area of our mission and the impact the centre project would have on it. For the material used see http://www.christchurchwarley.org/33.html. There were 2 times of group prayer, with individual prayer at other times.
Sunday 20th January - members of the Christ Church congregation joined the members of other churches from Brentwood at St Peter's South Weald. The service was to launch Hope 2008 in Brentwood and explored the commitment to the Lord's work through the use of the Methodist Covenant Prayer.
Sunday 20th January - this was Education Sunday and the work of Brentwood schools and the Brentwood Schools Christian Worker Trust was remembered in the sermon and during the prayers at the 10.30 service.
Monday 24th December Christmas Eve 5.00pm Christingle - the church was full as many children came with their families to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to understand more of the significance for us all of his life and death. Each child received a Christingle - an orange to represent the world, wrapped around with a red ribbon to signify Jesus' death for us all, four cocktail sticks with sweets representing the fruits of the earth and the four seasons, and with a candle inserted into the centre to represent Jesus, Light of the World. The first candle was lit from the Advent Wreath and as each Christingle was then lit, the light permeated the whole church creating a special glow on the faces of all the children.
Sunday December 23rd 6.30pm Carol Service - there was something very special about the church glowing in the flickering light of many candles on window ledge and pillar. Choir and congregation sang well-loved carols and we heard once again the story of the first Christmas - the birth of Jesus, the Messiah, Immanuel, God coming as a baby to live among his people.
Sunday 9 December - baptism of James Head, son of Tony and Jenny Head at our Christmas Season All Age Worship service.

Saturday 24 November - the Christmas Fayre was held in the church hall with a wide variety of stalls and activities. The money raised will be given to the redevelopment project.
Sunday 18 November - 217 christmas boxes were collected for Operation Christmas Child
Saturday 27 October - the Church Harvest Supper was held based around a Fish and Chip supper. The event raised £108 for the Tear Fund Zimbabwe Emergency Appeal.
Saturday 13 October - Jes Salt was licensed as a Lay Reader at a service at Chelmsford Cathedral. Jes was supported by his family, Chris (vicar), fellow readers David and Tim and other members of Christ Church.
Monday 8 October - Confirmation at Christ Church led by Bishop Lawrie. Sylvia Skidmore, Hillary Webb, Louise Knight and Marion Fairclough.
