2007 report
Since our inception in January 2007 we have had well attended monthly meetings involving a variety of topics. The two Acorn Listening sessions presented by Rev Paul Gambling were well attended and received – something we would like to repeat in the future. The craft evenings we held during the months before Christmas were very enjoyable and enabled us to make a donation to the Christmas Fayre.
We have held a number of coffee mornings enabling us to donate funds to the MU Prison Visiting scheme in Chelmsford, Tear Fund emergency fund, Macmillan Cancer research, MU Literacy scheme for women in Africa.
We have now completed 30 handbags filled with goodies for Aids widows in Africa. together with 20 plus hygiene packs which are passed to Medical Missionary News via Vicky Thomas.
The Council meetings and services held in Chelmsford Cathedral are always joyful, special occasions. The main Diocesan all day meeting was held at Rayleigh, and will be repeated at this venue on May 12 this year.
The theme for 2008 is Relationships especially relating to family life and we shall be considering this with the help of a visiting speaker this year.
Visitors (including little ones) are always welcome at our meetings 9.30 am for 10.00 am on the second Thursday in the month.
