Work in the parish
The Marillac

The Nursing home is specifically designed for younger adults with physical disabilities who seek continuing care. Nursing staff and associated professionals offer care and expertise to those who have neurological conditions, brain injury and other conditions leading to physical and sensory disabilities requiring high levels of care. Respite care is also available.

A Christ Church team of Eileen Griffin, Bill Fulcher, David Petterson, Chris Goldsmith and Paul Gambling visit The Marillac each Wednesday morning, when residents gather in the chapel for services of the word and Holy Communion. In addition, visits are made to residents' rooms and common rooms as the need arises. Regular visits are made to the hall where craft activities are enjoyed by many residents. At Christmas, gifts of flowers and plants are distributed to residents and staff with best wishes from the Christ Church family.

Our six teams continue to provide a short Sunday afternoon service at the Winifred Dell residential home twice a month. The residents enjoy the service, and usually there will be one or two staff members present, and sometimes a relative.
At the time of writing, it is still uncertain whether the home will be demolished and rebuilt, and the uncertainty causes anxiety to some of the residents and staff; please pray for them.Extra musicians and helpers to give out service sheets and generally support the residents during the services would be most welcome.
